Volunteer of the Month: Suzi

We are thrilled to celebrate Suzi as our January Volunteer of the Month! Since joining Girls on the Run in 2019, Suzi has embodied everything we hope for in a volunteer - dedication, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to empowering young girls.

A Coach Who Makes a Difference

As a Coach and Site Liaison at Barberton Intermediate, Suzi creates an environment where every girl feels valued and supported. According to Mackenzie, our Program & Volunteer Manager:

"Suzi is the kind of volunteer every organization dreams of having. Since 2019, she has consistently gone above and beyond in every role she steps into. She shows up with unwavering dedication, compassion, and a deep belief in the power of this program. She creates a space where every girl feels seen, supported, and encouraged to grow.”

Beyond her work with her team, Suzi brings that same energy to our 5K events, volunteering year after year and serving on the 5K Committee with enthusiasm and reliability that never wavers. “She doesn't just fill a role, she elevates it. She steps in before anyone asks, helps wherever she's needed, and always brings a positive spirit that makes the entire experience better for everyone involved.

Suzi's willingness to give more than what's expected, time and time again, is what makes her truly exceptional. Her impact is felt not only by the girls she coaches, but by our entire organization."

In Suzi’s Own Words

We asked Suzi a few questions about her experience with Girls on the Run, and her responses beautifully capture why she's so special to our community.

How has being part of Girls on the Run impacted you personally?

"I have truly become by BEST self through my coaching and volunteer work with GOTR. I am a better mother, sister, teacher, friend, and a true girls' girl!"

If you could describe Girls on the Run in one word, what would it be and why?

"EMPOWERING!!!"

What advice would you give to someone considering becoming a coach or volunteer?

"Don't hesitate. You will not regret being a part of this outstanding organization. It is so rewarding! Be the adult YOU needed when YOU were a little girl :)"

Thank You, Suzi!

Suzi's impact extends far beyond the finish line. She shows up, she lifts others up, and she makes our entire organization stronger. Her advice to prospective volunteers says it all - be the adult you needed when you were young. Suzi lives this principle every single day, and the girls she coaches are incredibly fortunate to have her in their corner.

Thank you, Suzi, for your years of service, your infectious enthusiasm, and your heart for empowering the next generation of strong, confident girls. You truly are the volunteer every organization dreams of having!
